Rockefeller had made substantial gifts, most prominently being $50,000 to Henry Kissinger. Senator Walter Mondale drops out of the race for the 1976 Democratic Presidential nomination which along with Senator Kennedy deprives the liberal end of the Democratic spectrum of its two foremost presidential candidates.
